Head with Chains

Date & Location

Spring, 2017

Kyiv, Ukraine

PROJECT DETAILS

Sculpture-cast from epoxy resin.

Story

«Head with Chains» is a sculpture-cast of Maria Kulikovska's head, which was created in spring of 2017 at the end of her sculpture series «Memento Mori». «Head with chains» became the beginning of work with new materials previously unused by the artist. Exactly «Head with chains» became the first sculpture in which symbolic objects were engaged. After the creation of «Head», the sculpture series of «Carpe Diem» were created as a continuation of Kulikovska's dialogue with internal conflicts, injuries, fears and memories that were fixed in the material by apparently-hidden metaphors.
