The sculptures and videos presented at HAU reflect the multi-layered and complex life of Maria Kulikovska. After her work had been destroyed by occupying Russian forces in Donetsk, Ukraine, following the annexation of Crimea in 2014, Kuliskovska was urged to create a series of feminist and activist work. The constant destruction and re-creation of her body as life size sculptures show the impact of the ongoing regional conflict in personal lives.
