The name of the «880» series is associated with the numbers that surround the artist throughout her life.

Maria Kulikovska was born in 1988. And according to the numerological table of Pythagoras, her name and surname, as well as the date of birth, symbolize the number 8, making her a "fatal woman".

On March 18, 2014, the results of a pseudo-referendum were published after the invasion of Russian troops and the occupation of Crimea, where the artist was born and raised. Since then, the theme of borders, violence against the human body (women, in particular) has become one of the key in Kulikovska practice. Returning home and the obstacles associated with this became for Kulikovska the subject of research and understanding of the concepts of homeland and home.

The «880» series includes 8 busts cast from the artist's body created in ballistic soap and flowers. While preparing this series for taking pictures in her apartment, Maria unconsciously put a sculpture near the fireplace, which reminded her of the fireplace in her parents' house. She decided to find out what distance from the fireplace in the apartment in Kyiv, which imitates the lost house as much as possible, to the parental house in Crimea. The distance on Google map is exactly 880 km. Thus, the apartment itself, which she created in the likeness of her Crimean home, becomes a work of art itself and part of the "880" series.
